Education, Research and Conservation
Bahia Salinas Research Center is focused on supporting the community-based NGO Equipo Tora Carey and the local community of El Jobo in Costa Rica by offering job opportunities, income alternatives, environmental education, scientific research fieldwork, sustainable development strategies, among others.
We are scientists that care for the planet and live seeing how it is changing, and because of it, our company has been working with the community, local companies and students from around the world to reach significant conservation actions on the vulnerable and yet really important marine and terrestrial habitats of Punta Descartes, located in Guanacaste Costa Rica. We started with student fieldwork tours, then sustainability consultancy services and now, in order to strengthen the conservation and research efforts, we are expanding our business to sell jewelry and local artisan crafts from which we will pay not only the artisans but the salary of local men and women to help us do more research and conservation activities. Hopefully, if our goals are reached, we hope to expand our help to other marine/coastal community-based projects worldwide!
